Hwa Heng Beef Noodle Stall

Toa Payoh Hwa Heng Beef Noodle located in Bendemeer Food Centre always has a perpetual queue throughout the lunch hours.

This is probably one of the most popular stalls in this food centre and here was Lao Beng queuing with fellow fans for their delicious beef noodle.

Hwa Heng Beef Noodle prices

Previously, a bowl of beef noodle cost $3 but they have increased their price to $4 which is understandable as a bowl of beef noodle for $3 in Singapore is almost unheard of.

I was deciding between the standard beef noodle and the mixed beef noodle.

Hwa Heng Beef Noodle Hours

At the stall front, you can read various newspaper cuttings of the history and legacy of Hwa Heng Beef Noodle.

Most importantly, they do not open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Public Holidays and closed at 3.30pm and 2.30pm respectively for weekdays and weekends.

So what did I order? It was the dry mixed beef noodle at $4. Four beef balls and a bowl filled to the brim with beansprouts, noodle and the lovely pieces of sliced beef, tripe and brisket.

I can still remember when I was a young boy patronizing a beef noodle stall in my neighbourhood. I would always order the soup version and was always disappointed cos I did not realize the version with thick gravy is actually the dry version…

The gravy was tasty and smooth; adding the cincalok (fermented shrimp condiment) gave a zesty sharper taste to the delicious beef noodle. I loved the texture of the chewy slices of beef, tripe, brisket and beef balls as I chewed on them and slurped on the drenched noodles like no tomorrow.

Lao Beng’s Verdict

At $4, it is extremely value for money for an authentic bowl of super delicious beef noodle. Do go early to avoid the long queue!!
