U Hakka Niang Tou Fu in Circuit Road Food Centre

Most of us love to eat Yong Tau Foo as it is always deemed as a healthier choice as compared with other hawker food.

The sad thing is that nowadays generic Yong Tau Foo ingredients are largely factory made. However, there are still a few good hawkers that make their Yong Tau Foo by hand.

U Hakka Niang Tou Fu located in Circuit Road Food Centre is one good example of authentic traditional Hakka Yong Tau Foo.

Lao Beng was here one late morning for brunch and business was brisk for U Hakka Niang Tou Fu at a hawker centre that does not see too much pedestrian traffic in the morning.

I picked my favourite bitter gourd, tau pok, ngoh hiang and other fried stuff. Yes, I am the kind of person who prefers fried stuff for my Yong Tau Foo selection as compared to the largely health conscious consumers of Yong Tau Foo.

The pricing board is concise and you can clearly see that the handmade “Flat Noodle” is the choice staple food over here.

I opted for the handmade flat noodle with minced meat at the additional cost of $1.80.

The grand total came to $5.60 for 6 pieces of assorted pork/fish yong tau foo and a plate of handmade flat noodle with minced meat garnished with spring onions and lovely homemade chilli.

You can always decide against having the minced meat for a cheaper price but I would advise not, why? Read on…

The bitter gourd and ngoh hiang yong tau foo were tasty as I munched on the meaty stuffing and you can easily tell the difference between handmade and factory made ones with your taste buds.

The handmade flat noodle looks extremely sumptuous even when I reminisce as I look at this photo.

After mixing the chilli with the flat noodle that has been immersed with the delightful minced meat sauce, I started my assault.

The noodle was so good, I was gobbling like a man gone amok…

The combination of the chilli, the minced meat sauce and the chewy flat noodle was wonderfully delicious; add to that the tender minced meat made it even more delectable. I have to admit that it was so good and I gonna up-size the noodle for my next visit.

Lao Beng’s Verdict

Authentic Hakka Yong Tau Foo and the super delicious flat noodle drenched in delightful minced meat sauce and chilli mix will make you come back for more!
