When you mention Laksa, 328 Katong Laksa (328 加东叻沙) easily comes to Singaporeans’ mind. It is probably the most famous Laksa in Singapore by word of mouth, bloggers’ recommendation, travel sites’ recommendation, social media sharing, etc.

Not to mention a host of celebrities both locals and overseas that have patronized this stall due to its famous Katong Laksa. Katong Laksa is usually served in a bowl and spoon, no chopsticks are required as the noodle is cut into pieces.

There are signs just outside the shop showing the pretty owner Nancy Lim.

This is the counter where you order Katong Laksa as well as other sides like otah, dumplings and buns. Alcoholic and popular beverages are available as well.

I proceeded to order a small bowl of Katong Laksa and it cost $5.35 ; the large bowl goes for the price of $7.50. Pretty expensive for a bowl of Laksa I must say.

As I brought my Laksa to my table, I could not help but continued to gaze at the wall of celebrities. There is even a picture of the owner participating in an overseas event with local celebrities.

If I am not wrong, it should be for the Singapore Day event in other countries where Singaporeans gather together to celebrate their Singaporean identity with delicious Singapore hawker food.

328 Katong Laksa

Here is my small bowl of Laksa, it was indeed small for its serving and at $5.35, I felt a bit of a pinch for my money.

I added just 1/3 of the chilli from the sachet to give it an additional kick.

The Katong Laksa was pretty good, its ingredients were fresh and I could not help but kept slurping at the aromatic Laksa gravy.

It had a richness (due to the coconut milk) that gives you a “lemak” feeling which in the context of Laksa is a good sinful feeling.

Lao Beng’s Verdict

Steep pricing in my personal opinion but that is what you pay for when something of quality gets real famous in Singapore and the whole wide world. A good place though to bring your overseas friends who want to try one of Singapore’s favourite hawker food.
